KRISTEN KRAMLICH
Kristen’s jewelry flirts with a balance between soft and edgy
forms. Three visually cohesive, but conceptually distinct
collections are currently being shown: Resolute, Love Notes, and
Graphica. Resolute is the newest collection, and it is a focus on the strength to be who you are and happy with who you are. The models who inspired this collection are real women who are a sign of strength in the artist’s own life. The next collection, Love
Notes is all about love and positivity. Each piece started out as a poem written to someone or a concept that the artist loves and then was translated into a piece of jewelry. Graphica focuses on
ancient patterns & lines paired with bold, modern imagery.
fLuxe Jewelry (created in 2009) is a line made from hand-sawing pieces from copper sheet metal and then finishing with enameling and/or oxidation. To create the unique patinas, Kristen gets to be
a mad scientist of sorts. She hand mixes the chemicals and then applies them to add color to the metal. The enameling process is done by layering glass powder on the copper and fusing it to the metal by firing it in a kiln. Some of the pieces are finished with techniques such as iridescence or gold leaf.
Kristen Kramlich has been creating jewelry since 2007. Her work has been featured on television on Great Day Houston and Channel 2’s Houston Life. It has also been featured in magazines, such as Art Jewelry Magazine and Divergent.
